This is the first really talented team USM has faced. The cancelled App State game would have been some good preparation. USM probably cannot compete with the Tigers at this point.

I think perhaps we all expect this game to be an ugly-fest and so I half expect these two to score 100 between them. UTEP is coming to San Antonio to face a team that is struggling at the same level. There is maybe a quarterback to be had between the two teams.

Time was this would be a juicy matchup the equal of the Tech-UNT one out west. Unfortunately no one believes in the Blue Raiders anymore. It is a shame, because FAU is a little more vulnerable this season. Chris Robison will try to find a nice balance between his talent and his limited experience.

Remember that brief time when the 49ers had overtaken the ODU Monarchs? Well that changed quickly. Last year, Charlotte beat UAB unexpectedly and the Blazers want revenge. This should be a rout.

Time was this was a good game between a couple of high-powered offenses or a high-powered offense and a good defense. Now? Well Marshall is the better team and WKU is hoping last week’s run game appearance is for good.

The game of the week should be fun. J’Mar Smith is a different challenge for this tough NT defense that has not played a QB that can move and throw to talented wide receivers. Tech just played a really tough team on the road in a hostile stadium, so the 25K+ in Apogee should not be intimidating. I think NT’s pass game is too much for the Tech secondary, however.
