Marshall vs App St is on Big CBS

Marshall vs Appalachian State scheduled for this weekend was originally going to be on CBS Sports Network at 1:30 ET but has been moved to CBS — the main network channel — at 3:30pm

The CUSA press release quoted Marshall AD Mike Hamrick as saying

“The increased national exposure that comes with the move to CBS will be great for our university, football program and our community.”

The postponement of the Big Ten and Pac 12 has created a void of programming across the sports network universe. App State is a top-25 team, and Marshall is a great program with a long history. This regional game with two quality teams is a perfect choice for showcasing on national television.

CUSA was (rightly) criticized for continuing with the season despite the postponements of others. It is still a risky endeavor, but the reward if everyone came out of the pandemic season unscathed was going to be increased exposure while everyone else sat.
