The league has eight bowl-eligible teams and today, we will find out where everyone is headed.
MTSU (6-6) has already been announced as one entrant into the Bahamas Bowl against Toledo (7-5) on Friday December 17 at 11am.
UTEP (7-5) is going to the New Mexico Bowl to face Fresno State, a team that just lost head coach Kalen DeBoer to Washington. December 18 12:15 MT
North Texas (6-6) and Miami (OH) in the Frisco Football Classic (classic!) — This is a good bowl, the Mean Green wanted something close and got it. This should sell out well, and be essentially a home game. This is a chance to re-send the seniors out with a bang.
Western Kentucky (8-5) vs Appalachian State in the Boca Raton Bowl December 18 — a good opponent in App State, a chance to show everyone the brilliant WKU offense one more time.
Marshall (7-5) vs Louisiana in the New Orleans Bowl December 18 — A good bowl, a good opponent who lost their head coach.
BYU vs UAB (8-4) Independence Bowl, December 18 — A ranked opponent for UAB. This was guesstimated to be the Roadrunners, but in a surprise it goes to the Blazers. UAB didn’t bowl last season and this is a good opportunity for the program, and one of the better matchups available.
ODU (6-6) vs Tulsa in the Myrtle Beach Bowl, December 20 — ODU is happy to be in a bowl and this is nearby. Good stuff.
San Diego State vs UTSA (12-1) in the Frisco Bowl — the league champions take on the second-place finishers from the Mountain West. Brady Hoke’s squad is a good one, and this should be one of the better matchups of bowl season (of the games that are not for championships).
