Antwain Johnson, Tyrik Dixon, Davion Thomas are all out for various reasons as Nick McDevitt rebuilds the Blue Raiders program after the departure of Kermit Davis for Ol’ Miss. One of the league’s powerhouses was always going to be in reload/rebuild mode, but this wholesale change could portend a more dramatic version of that.
This will be a test of MTSU basketball. Was Kermit Davis’ tenure one-man propping up a program, or did he plant the seeds for long-term sustainability? This kind of exodus is not unusual in college basketball or even college sports in general, so we cannot read too much into this. The real test will be in the win-loss columns this fall. MTSU will take a step back, but how much and for how long?
