2019 CUSA Tournament: Women

UTEP Women came back from down big to beat the Herd in 2OT. A big upset — 11 vs 6 — and the Miners will be moving on. It was a tough game that saw UTEP struggle early but find some room in the Herd’s 2-3 zone to grind their way back.

Meanwhile, The Lady Techsters went down to Charlotte. Tech had a rough time shooting and ultimately just went cold down the stretch.

The afternoon session is closer. Right now Tech and Charlotte are battling down to the wire while Marshall is leading UTEP by 8 (as of this post of course).

The crowd on the Marshall/UTEP side is a little more full, I suppose that is because of the rabid Herd base that is here for their team. The Tech / Charlotte side is a little light, and that likely has to do with the missing 49er Men’s team.

We have two winners so far this morning. North Texas upset USM 49-46 and ODU destroyed FAU 60-32. Rice awaits North Texas and WKU will play ODU tomorrow morning.

Later this afternoon, Charlotte and Louisiana Tech will commence, with Marshall and UTEP battling about a half-hour later.

The attendance was unimpressive for the ODU-FAU game, perhaps unsurprisingly given the distance and quality of both squads and the timing. The morning session was cold and windy and a bit rainy. Tournament officials expect a bigger crowd for all sessions.
