FIU handled FAU last night and that is just enough to put them in the top four. This is temporary, as that is how the game goes but it is worth noting that the Panthers have demonstrated they are tough to beat at home.
They have yet to really threaten on the road consistently, and there the tempo at which they play is unproven in tourney play.
Last year they blew out North Texas only to lose in the first round rematch just a few days later.
One interesting thing is that ODU, North Texas and Charlotte — all deliberate teams — has great offensive games against the press. It could be those teams are simply good at basketball and just choose to play slowly.
FIU was destroyed in Denton but beat WKU at home. Those two will likely be in the top pod rotation so we will learn more about the Panthers very soon.
