WKU Loses Kittley to Texas Tech

Zach Kittley was the hire of the season for WKU’s Tyson Helton. The Hilltoppers put up the league’s best offense — and the nation’s best in many categories. Kittley came to WKU from Houston Baptist and brought with him Bailey Zappe, who has put his name all over national and program record books.

Now Kittley is moving back to Lubbock to join the Red Raiders.

This is all made possible because Louisiana Tech hired Sonny Cumbie to be the head coach, creating a vacancy. Given the prolific offense, however, Kittley was going to be hired away already, according to the Lubbock AJ

A source told A-J Media that Kittley or his agent had been contacted recently by Miami, though that was before reports Sunday that the Hurricanes were planning to replace head coach Manny Diaz with Oregon coach Mario Cristobal.

Tyson Helton made the best hire of last coaching carousel1 and will have to do something similar to retain the east division title. We have reached out to WKU for comment.
