The Jim Thorpe Award semifinal list includes North Texas’ cornerback Nate Brooks. The three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award will be named on Monday, November 19th, at 10:00 CST.
The Jim Thorpe Award is sponsored by Paycom. It is awarded to “the best defensive back in college football based on performance on the field, athletic ability and character.” The award winner is selected from the three finalists and will be announced at college football awards in December.
Brooks returned from an injury-plagued season in which he struggled to regain the form of his 2016 season. He is tied for second the nation in interceptions with 4 (with ten others). Brooks is the only CUSA defensive back to make the semifinalist cut.
